Final Reflection & Application – The Book of Colossians

Living Out What We’ve Learned

We have completed our study through Colossians—a powerful letter that has taught us about the supremacy of Christ, our new identity in Him, and how to live as transformed believers.

Before we close this study, today is a day to reflect, process, and apply everything we’ve learned.

Let’s walk through the key themes of Colossians one last time and consider how we can live them out daily.

1️⃣ The Supremacy of Christ (Col. 1:15-23)

✅ Jesus is the image of the invisible God.
✅ He is before all things, and in Him, all things hold together.
✅ Through His death and resurrection, we are reconciled to God.

➡️ Reflection:

  • Do I truly see Jesus as supreme over my life?

  • Am I fully relying on Him, or am I still trying to be in control?

2️⃣ Rooted & Built Up in Christ (Col. 2:6-15)

✅ We are to walk in Christ, rooted and established in faith.
We are complete in Him and nothing needs to be added.
✅ Christ has canceled our sin debt by nailing it to the cross.

➡️ Reflection:

  • Am I living from a place of security in Christ, or am I still striving?

  • Am I growing spiritually by staying rooted in the Word?

3️⃣ Putting Off the Old, Putting On the New (Col. 3:1-17)

✅ We must set our minds on things above, not on earthly things.
✅ We must put to death sin and put on Christ-like character.
Love binds everything together in perfect harmony.

➡️ Reflection:

  • What sins, attitudes, or habits do I need to put off?

  • How can I actively clothe myself in Christ’s character each day?

4️⃣ Christ in Our Relationships (Col. 3:18-4:1)

✅ Wives, husbands, children, and parents are all called to live out their roles in Christ.
✅ Our work should be done as for the Lord, not for men.
✅ Masters (leaders) must treat those under them with justice and fairness.

➡️ Reflection:

  • How am I reflecting Christ in my marriage, family, and work?

  • Am I leading and serving others with humility and grace?

5️⃣ Prayer, Wisdom, & Gospel Mission (Col. 4:2-6)

✅ We are called to be steadfast in prayer.
✅ We must walk in wisdom toward outsiders and make the most of every opportunity.
✅ Our speech should always be gracious, seasoned with salt.

➡️ Reflection:

  • Am I committed to a life of prayer and dependence on God?

  • Am I intentional about sharing Christ through my words and actions?

6️⃣ The Power of Faithful Servants (Col. 4:7-18)

✅ Paul highlighted ordinary, faithful people who played key roles in the gospel.
✅ Some served through prayer (Epaphras), others through hospitality (Nympha), and some through writing (Luke).
✅ Each person had a role to play in building God’s kingdom.

➡️ Reflection:

  • What gifts or resources has God given me to serve others?

  • Am I being faithful in the small things, even if no one sees?
